Research & Development

HERO is conducting research and testing to demonstrate new technology, expand where EGS is economic, and reduce the cost of Engineered Geothermal Systems (EGS).
 

This includes research in the following areas:
 

• Stimulation methods to increase output of each well
   

• Drilling technology to reduce drilling costs
   

• Methods for reservoir management for long term use
   

• Improved power plant technology to make generating electricity more efficient
   

HERO is also performing detailed engineering feasibility studies into the potential for replacing coal fired power plants with EGS
